Ever found a weapon past max damage? - Guild Wars Forums

I just found a 7-20 hand axe. Max is supposed to be 6-28. I have no clue how it has 1 more minimum damage than max. Has anyone else ever found any weapons beyond max damage?

Yes. there are rare weapon drops with higher min dmg values. but I have never seen a higher MAX dmg value fora weapon. Level 24 weapons Max dmg is pretty concrete. but like I said I have seen some Gold weapon drops. and 1 Purple weapon drop in the past with higher then min for level 24... Eternal Bow 16-28 is one I used for a LONG time on my ranger... It was a purple weapon drop. I have also seen a gold hammer that had 20-35 dmg. One of my guildmates warrior build has that one...

General Max dmg for weapons at level 24 are as follows
Axe 6-28
Sword 15-22
Hammer 19-35
Bow 15-28
Rod / Wand / Staff 11-22

Best AL for shields is AL 16
and Best +energy focus Unmodified is +15.

However each of these can have dmg modifiers that increase the base dmg done on random components. Generally the more extra base dmg the more rare the item is...

Anything with a higher min dmg value then normal level 24 is well worth holding on to...

the weapon you found is a level 17 rare. with a +1 to min base dmg

It's a clean white drop, I got it from a level 12 mergoyle in the Gates of Kryta mission.

that is intersting. I'll have to check some early drops in the area and see what is going on. it is a MMO so its anyones guess what they have in store for new drops.

I found an 18-38 hammer once and when someone asked what was max dmg on a hammer, i automatically though 18-38 was...

You wouldn't believe the stupidity of some people. I got FLAMES in my pms for saying I found a hammer with 18-38 damage....

Best energy focus is not 12 it is 15 and there is a collectors item that has +6 +15 Energy, +30 health which equates to +21 Energy +30 health, if you can find it. heh

yep I know the one you mean.. lol complely forgot about that. My figures are from the Strat guide, but I know they are looking at upping the max level to that chart from 24 to lev 25... thus all the max dmg items will prob pop up when that happens...

Hmm, so does that mean there's a maximum for Max damage weapons and a maximum for minimum damage weapons?

EX: You don't hit high as a MAX dmg weapon but can't hit low either would be a MAX MIN weapon which I'd find to be very useful. Instead of hitting something like 11-22 with a staff and hitting 13-20 (Dunno if that's possible, just saying) I'd pick the last one because I couldn't hit low, and in reality it actually is the same weapon because you will still hit the same average of damage. Just saying... There are two maxes for a weapon and both average out to the same. (if my theory is correct)

does that make sense?

well it actually is rather complicated (the hit values for each weapon against different levels)... I found a table once someplace, and I don't remember where now... may not have been in guru. but anyway it showed how a given weapon max level will react in battle against certain levels of creatures. See if you can find it...

it was similar to the EXP list... but It was expanded.
Had axe sword and hammer at max dmg and compared it to level 15, 20, 22, 25, and 30 creatures... and showed the ave damage per hit for each on the levels for a ascended Warrior. it was going to be expanded but I never saw that one...

Anyone know where that was? If so please post here. I've been looking all over for that table again... and have not seen it since the launch.

EDIT: Found it I think... But remember this was setting at the launch. it has not been adjusted to current stats... But I think you get the idea from it at least.

Got to love going back to ascalon and doing missions with a max dmg longbow and hitting things for 70dmg. lol 1st time I did that I was like OMG!!

Yes, there is an axe that has 7-20 damage, it is the only one of it's kind. You won't be finding a 7-28 damage axe though, it only comes in the 7-20 model ;o.

Well i was under the impression that char in GW only went to lv 20 an i read here lv 24 or did i misread that? olso the focus item and all energy items i belived them to be +12 max w/o mods on them and just read on the same post that its Max +15 or did i get that wrong 2?

Really? I have a 19-35 Runic Hammer that I found in the Crystal Desert. I thought the 19 was unusual.

19-35 is normal max for a hammer. There are some that are 18-35. Veripare, I'd LOVE to see a hammer with 18-38.
